Domestic Leak Detection

A hidden leak can cause serious damage before you even know it is there. We find it fast, and stop it getting worse.

Don't let a hidden leak take hold.

A leak you cannot see does not stop causing damage just because it is hidden. Left untreated, it can lead to structural damage, mould, and a much bigger repair bill. Our accredited engineers trace the source quickly using non invasive methods, backed by a full written report for your insurer.

What is leak detection?

Leak detection is the process of finding the exact source of a hidden water leak, using specialist equipment rather than guesswork. It is used when a leak is not visible, for example behind a wall, under a floor, or below ground, and needs to be traced before any repair work can begin.

Our domestic leak detection treatment process

Step 1 Contact

Step 1 Contact

Tell us what you have noticed, a damp patch, a hissing sound, a water bill that does not add up, and we will arrange a visit at a time that works for you, including evenings and weekends.

Step 2 Quote

Step 2 Quote

Your engineer uses non invasive methods to pinpoint the source without tearing up your home. We pick the right equipment for your leak, whether that is thermal imaging, acoustic detection, tracer gas or moisture meters.

Step 3 Cleaning

Step 3 Cleaning

We put our findings in writing, with photos, so you have clear evidence to hand your insurer. This is usually what is needed to move an "escape of water" claim forward.

Step 4 After care

Step 4 After care

If the leak needs fixing, we can carry out the repair or point you toward what happens next. Either way, you are left with a clear answer, not more questions.

FAQs

Technologies used

Will you need to break into my walls or floors?

Not usually. Our methods are non invasive, meaning we trace the leak first and only open up the exact spot once we know where it is, keeping any damage to a minimum.

What equipment do you use to find a leak?

We choose from thermal imaging cameras, acoustic listening devices, tracer gas and moisture meters, depending on where we think the leak is and what type of pipework you have.

Estimates and charges

Will my insurance cover the cost?

Many home insurance policies cover leak detection as part of an "escape of water" claim. Check your policy documents, or ask us and we can point you in the right direction.

How much does domestic leak detection cost?

It depends on the size of your property and how the leak is behaving. Call 0208 066 0360 or email contactus@icecleaning.co.uk and we will talk you through pricing before anything is booked.

Booking the clean

Do you work evenings and weekends?

Yes, we know leaks do not wait for office hours, so we offer appointments outside the usual nine to five.

How quickly can someone come out?

We offer same day appointments in most areas. Call 0208 066 0360 or email contactus@icecleaning.co.uk to check availability near you.

On the day

How long does a leak detection visit take?

Most visits take between one and three hours, depending on the size of your property and how easy the leak is to trace.

Customer care

What happens after the leak is found?

We give you a full written report and talk you through your options, whether that is a repair, a claim, or further work like drying out or mould treatment.
