Is there anything I can do before the experts arrive?
If the local authorities have declared the property safe to enter, there are some things you can do before the experts arrive. Do still be careful as many dangers may still remain.
It is recommended to ventilate the building as much as you can to allow fresh air to spread throughout. You should also remove furniture that is damaged beyond repair by the fire.
Other actions include scrubbing down surfaces to remove what smoke particles you can. Professional attention will be required to completely eradicate harm done by smoke.
However, we would recommend doing a few things prior to help arriving. For instance, ventilate the property as soon as possible to allow fresh air to travel through the premises.
