Skilled Oil Spill Cleaning Services

We’re a local, reliable cleaning company based in the Southeast of England.

With years of experience in the oil spill cleaning sector, we’re on hand to deal with all your cleaning needs in Sandwich.

Oil is a hazardous material that hurts not just the environment but also humans, animals, and individuals. Regardless of the leak's origin, handling it on your own could be challenging.    You must take immediate action and only attempt to contain an oil leak if you have the required PPE and are trained to do so. It is easy to ignite and, after repeated exposure, might be harmful to your health.

ICE Cleaning provides quick and efficient services in the event of an oil spill. This includes oil spills on concrete, asphalt, hard surfaces, polluted soil, hydraulic oil, petrol, and gasoline.  Our skilled professionals have received specialised training and can address a range of issues.

We’re leading the way for oil spill cleaning solutions in Sandwich.

In compliance with health and safety regulations, our knowledgeable cleaners will show up prepared to perform a site survey. We stay on-site and remove any harmful residues until the results meet your expectations.

We always put the safety of our customers first, making sure that any threats, including potentially hazardous materials, are taken away before we depart. Depending on the extent of the spill and the results of our site survey, the process and cost of the job may change.

As part of our process to fully extract the oil from the site, we eliminate any remnants using industrial-grade equipment and chemical treatments. After completion, our professionals use TORIK Cleaning technology to disinfect the polluted area.

Preventing oil spills at home and in the workplace

As a homeowner or company, you may prevent spills by being vigilant and doing periodic maintenance. As a homeowner, you are more personally accountable than a manager of a business. You should do the following things depending on how oil impacts your daily life:

Domestic oil tanks

  • Get your tank inspected and evaluated annually by a licenced oil professional.
  • Watch out for any potential leaks, such as a sudden dip in your oil level.
  • Don't overfill the tank.
  • A British Standard valve with an automatic shutdown should be installed, or you must ensure site gauge valves are closed.
  • Monitor all oil deliveries carefully, and make sure your tank complies with all health and safety requirements.
  • Access to an oil spill kit, absorbent materials, drain blocks, and leak-sealing putty should be available on-site.
  • Avoid placing the tank near your home's water lines, drains, wells, streams, and neighbourhood ponds.
  • Increase the tank's bunding or containment.
  • Change your tank's model to one that satisfies British Specifications.
  • Ensure that your tank is correctly marked with "Oil Care" labels that provide details about its capacity and manufacturer.
  • At least once a week, inspect your tank for leaks, damage, rust, and corrosion.

Workplace oil storage

  • Check to see if any oil-transporting vehicles have oil tanks that aren't sealed properly.
  • Assess the probability of an oil leak annually.
  • To identify the areas posing the greatest risk, review the spill history at your place of employment.
  • Ask your staff for ideas on how you might improve things for everyone on a regular basis.
  • Ensure your staff is familiar with the most recent health and safety laws, as well as guidelines for handling, storing, transporting, and responding to emergencies.
  • Check your machinery and equipment often.
  • PPE and spill kits should be accessible.
  • To protect the oil tanks and other equipment, provide staff with filter bags, mesh baskets, and sheets.

What to do if oil spills

Your council could provide you with recommendations on who to hire to fix the leak, but ultimately you are financially responsible. You must next carry out these steps to inform you of how to deal with an oil spill:

  • Determine the leak's cause.
  • Stop the flow of the oil.
  • If you can, place a metal container underneath the oil leak.
  • If it is safe and you have the qualifications, use absorbent materials to halt the oil leak.
  • Never use water or chemicals to clean up the spill on your own.
  • Refrain from contacting your skin or clothes with the oil.
  • Make sure your hands are clean before you smoke, eat, or drink anything if you handled the oil.
  • Ventilate the oil tank room if it is an enclosed space.
  • To determine how much oil may have been lost, check the levels.
  • Place any contaminated objects or textiles in quarantine.
  • Keep track of the damage and any potential insurance payments you may need to make.
