What is a squatter?

According to Shelter Legal, a squatter is a person who enters and occupies a property without permission from the person entitled to possession of the property.

This person could be an owner, tenant or landlord. Whilst there is no data held by the government about the number of people who squat or their reasons for doing so, the Ministry of Justice predicts that around 20,000 people in the UK are squatting at any given time.

What's our process?

Our technicians always begin by conducting a thorough risk assessment of the site to determine any potential hazards or dangers. In the event of a squatter clean-up, we may find biohazards – such as used needles and syringes, bodily fluids (e.g. blood), and both human and animal waste. Regardless of the severity of the hazards found, we guarantee our technicians will be able to safely restore your property as close to its original condition as possible.

Another benefit of the risk assessment is that it allows our technicians to identify any equipment that may be useful for the job, as well as how many workers will be required and the estimated timescale of the project. If you require the clean-up process to be completed within a specific timeframe, we can supply more workers than normal to meet your wish; however, it’s likely that additional fees will be involved.

The procedure can be split into various stages. The first component of the clean-up process involves removing all dangerous items from the site – such as needles, syringes, traces of drugs, human waste or animal waste. Our team of technicians are fully licensed to carry and dispose of all kinds of hazardous waste. You can leave it up to us to discard of any unwanted items.

Once all waste items have been taken care of, our workers will use specialist equipment to fully decontaminate the property.
